Why Should I Learn to Climb Now?

What’s the point?

We always end up back on the ground, plus, there’s always an easy way to the top? So why has climbing become so popular in recent years?

Climbing made its Olympic debut in 2020 bringing it firmly into the public spotlight. This huge international platform has encouraged millions to try climbing, and the numbers just keep rising!

There are many good reasons for this and if you have a spare two minutes, I can show you just a few of them!

#1 Stay Strong.

Physical exercise has always been important and in today’s world of increased sedentary lifestyles it has become even more so.

How to get to the top?

Your hands and feet create friction on the holds and your muscles generate the force to propel you up the wall. The rush of being off the ground and climbing for a long period gets your heart pumping and is a real calorie burner.

Climbing is a full body exercise that leaves you exhausted at the end of a session… far more interesting than another leg day at your local gym!

#2 Problem Solving.

In many sports the gap between male & female seems absolute. Climbing is a refreshing exception. Strength and power is rarely the only solution. Technique, agility, balance and flexibility are equally sort after tools in any experienced climbers repertoire.

Flexibility helping find the solution this time.

Just because your mates might be putting more away in the gym, or are consistently getting better split times, climbing rewards a different approach. Using your body to solve physical puzzles is a whole different game and often the craziest ideas might be the solution!

#3 Real Social.

A moment to rest and catch up mid session.

We are intrinsically social animals and need communities to to survive and thrive. It’s no different when it comes to climbing, take the opportunity to leave your phone in your bag and engage with others in the wall.

Indy prides itself on being a welcoming environment for anyone, regardless of age, race, gender or ability.

Our aim is to set great climbs, serve you fresh coffee, and keep your session going with quality tunes.

These types of scenes are what make Indy. We have a great community which extends to our amazing instructors who make our Learn to Climb courses as good as everyone says they are.

We’re making it as easy as possible for you to capitalise on all of these benefits this winter by providing the perfect introduction courses!
